Chatot, known in Japanese as Perap (ペラップ), is a dual-type Normal/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. It resembles a parrot with a head shaped like an eighth note and a tail like a metronome. Its plumage is brightly colored, with blue wings, a yellow chest, and a green stomach. Chatot is notable for its ability to mimic human speech, thanks to a tongue structure similar to that of humans. This allows it to learn and repeat words and phrases it hears. Additionally, Chatot can imitate the cries of other Pokémon as a defense mechanism. They are known to arrange the sounds they learn into their own melodies, using their tail as a metronome. More experienced Chatot are said to even understand the meaning of the words they mimic. In the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, Chatot serves as the second-in-command of the guild. It also appears in the anime as various characters, from a trainer's partner to someone else's pet. Chatot's unique design and abilities make it an interesting and popular character within the Pokémon franchise.
