Hippopotas

Hippopotas (Japanese: ヒポポタス Hippopotas) is a Ground-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. It resembles a hippopotamus, with a brown-yellow body and camouflage patterns. It has a small body with large nostrils, which it uses to shoot sand. Male and female Hippopotas have reversed brown and tan spot patterns. Hippopotas enjoys bathing in sand and avoids water at all costs. It covers itself in sand to protect against germs and expels sand instead of sweat. When walking through the sand, it closes its nostrils and opens its mouth, swallowing sand and prey along the way. Hippopotas is more active during the day and burrows into the sand during cold desert nights. They prefer to travel in groups of about ten. It possesses the abilities Sand Stream and Sand Force. Sand Stream summons a sandstorm, while Sand Force boosts the power of Rock, Steel, and Ground-type moves. Hippopotas evolves into Hippowdon at level 34.
