Sandile

Sandile, known as Meguroco in Japanese, is a dual-type Ground/Dark Pokémon introduced in Generation V. It resembles a baby crocodile with a light brown body, black stripes, and a pink underbelly. Sandile has black membrane-like structures around its eyes, similar to sunglasses, which protect them from desert sand and harsh sunlight. It typically burrows beneath desert sand, leaving only its eyes and nostrils exposed, moving by 'swimming' through the sand. As a cold-blooded creature, Sandile relies on the surrounding environment to regulate its body temperature. Though a predator, its small size often leads it to scavenge for carrion in the desert, earning it the nickname 'cleaner of the desert.' Sandile evolves into Krokorok, and then into Krookodile. In the anime, Sandile can be mischievous but is also known to protect its own kind and be curious towards humans. They appear in various Pokémon games and play a notable role in the animated series.
