Yamask (Japanese: デスマス Desumasu) is a Ghost-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V. It is known for carrying a golden mask that resembles a human face, said to be its face from when it was a human. According to Pokédex entries, Yamask is formed from the spirits of humans who were interred in graves, retaining memories of their former lives. This causes Yamask to sometimes gaze at its mask and cry. Yamask has a Galarian regional form, which is a dual-type Ground/Ghost Pokémon that evolves into Runerigus instead of Cofagrigus. The Galarian form has a clay tablet with cursed engravings attached to its tail, which is said to absorb its dark powers. Yamask's original form evolves into Cofagrigus starting at level 34. Yamask is vulnerable to Ghost and Dark moves, and its strongest moveset is typically Astonish and Shadow Ball. Yamask is a popular and intriguing Pokémon within the franchise, known for its haunting backstory and unique design.
