Archeops (アーケオス) is a dual-type Rock/Flying Fossil Pokémon introduced in Generation V. Known as the First Bird Pokémon, it exhibits characteristics of both birds and reptiles. Its head is snake-like, featherless, covered in scales, and red with a green stripe along the top. Its mouth is lined with sharp fangs. Its eyes are round, white with black pupils. Its body is covered with frayed yellow feathers with blue feathers on its wing-like arms and legs. All its wing-like limbs bear sharp claws. It has a ring of small green feathers on its ankles. Its tail is red and featherless, except for the fan of blue feathers at the tip. While capable of flight, it is more adept at running and needs a running start to take off. Archeops can run at speeds comparable to an automobile and cooperates with others to catch prey. Its ability is Defeatist, which lowers its Attack and Special Attack when its HP falls below half. Archeops evolves from Archen starting at level 37. It's believed to be based on the Archaeopteryx and might be inspired by feathered serpents of ancient Mesoamerican mythologies.
