Elgyem, known as リグレー (Ligray) in Japanese, is a Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V. It has a distinctive appearance, resembling a green extraterrestrial with an oval-shaped head that has depressions on each side. Symmetrical black lines adorn the front of its head, and it has shiny, button-like green eyes. Its hands have three finger-like digits, colored red, green, and yellow. Elgyem has short, stubby legs and a small tail. This Pokémon is said to have appeared suddenly from deep within the desert 50 years ago, having never been seen before. They use powerful psychic abilities to squeeze opponents' brains, causing severe headaches. Elgyem seems to communicate by flashing the lights on their hands and are highly inquisitive about novel objects, using their psychokinetic powers to manipulate and play with them. Though not inherently aggressive, Elgyem will use its powerful psychic abilities to inflict crippling headaches when threatened. It is said that when Elgyem pass by media devices, the screens will display images of their home, although those who witness the images often struggle to remember them for long. It evolves into Beheeyem starting at level 42.
