Cryogonal, also known as Freegeo (フリージオ) in Japanese, is an Ice-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V. It resembles a blue, hexagonal snowflake with deep-set blue eyes and a mouth that can extend chains of ice. Cryogonal is commonly found in cold weather and is said to originate from snow clouds. There are also rumors that it is born from people or Pokémon that perished on snowy mountains. When its body heat rises, Cryogonal turns into steam and vanishes, but it reverts to ice when the temperature lowers. It uses ice chains to capture prey, freezing them at -100°C before taking them to unknown locations. Cryogonal does not evolve and is known for its unique snowflake shape and Ice-type attacks. It has varied appearances in Pokémon games, such as learning moves via level-up, TMs, and TRs in Pokémon Sword and Shield. In Pokémon GO, it is obtainable through Special Research tasks. Cryogonal also appears in Super Smash Bros. as an enemy, using Ice Beam attacks.
