Rufflet

Rufflet (Japanese: ワシボン Washibon) is a dual-type Normal/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation V. It is the male counterpart to Vullaby. Rufflet is a small, shaggy, bird-like Pokémon that resembles an eaglet. Its body is primarily blue, with fluffy white feathers covering its head and neck, and a red and white feather on its forehead. Its face is blue with a mask-like pattern. It has a short, wide beak, large eyes, and large, powerful legs with sharp talons. Rufflet is known for its aggressive nature from birth, constantly challenging stronger opponents to grow stronger. It uses its talons to crush berries and crack open the shells of Shellder to eat the insides. Rufflet evolves into Braviary at level 54, or into Hisuian Braviary in the Hisui region. This Pokémon is a male-only species. In the anime, Rufflet first appeared in "Unrest at the Nursery!" where it often fought with Vullaby. The design of Rufflet is inspired by the bald eagle and its color palette references the colors of the American flag. The single plume on its head is reminiscent of Native American headdresses. The name "Rufflet" is likely derived from a combination of "rough," "ruff," and "eaglet," while its Japanese name "Washibon" may be a combination of "washi" (eagle) and "bon" (boy).
