Durant

Durant (Japanese: アイアント Aiant) is a dual-type Bug/Steel Pokémon introduced in Generation V. It resembles an ant, with a shiny gray metallic body, sharp pincers, long gray antennae, and six black legs. Its red eyes are squinted, giving it an angry or determined appearance. Its thorax and abdomen are heavily armored with a metal exoskeleton. Durant lives in large colonies similar to real-life ants. They have metallic armor to protect themselves from their natural predator, Heatmor. Their large mandibles are weapons used to fight Heatmor. Durant's eggs are a main food source for Sandaconda. They attack in groups, using their metal armor to protect themselves from Heatmor. Durant digs nests in mountains, creating complex, interconnected tunnels. Each individual plays a different role in driving off Heatmor. Durant uses its large mandibles to protect its eggs from Sandaconda. It does not evolve. Durant has appeared multiple times in the anime, including episodes where they kidnap Ash’s Pokémon. Durant may be based on army or Argentine ants, and their relationship with Heatmor is based on the predator-prey relationship between anteaters and ants.
