Chespin (Japanese: ハリマロン, Harimaron) is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VI. It is one of the three starter Pokémon of the Kalos region. Chespin resembles a bipedal hedgehog or porcupine with a tough, spiky, green chestnut-like shell covering its head and back. It has brown fur, a large pink triangular nose, oval-shaped black eyes, and a toothy grin. Its feet have sharp claws, and the tip of its pointed green tail is orange. Chespin is known for its curious nature, which often gets it into trouble, but it maintains an optimistic outlook and doesn't worry about small details. The quills on its head are usually soft, but they can harden to the point of piercing rocks when Chespin flexes them. By consuming many berries, the bark shell covering its head and body grows sturdier. In the anime, Clemont owns a Chespin that is gluttonous, loves macarons, and often clashes with Serena's Pancham. Chespin evolves into Quilladin and then Chesnaught. It is a popular Pokémon and beloved by many fans of the franchise.
