Aegislash (Japanese: ギルガルド Gillgard) is a dual-type Steel/Ghost Pokémon introduced in Generation VI. It evolves from Doublade when exposed to a Dusk Stone, and is the final evolution of Honedge. Aegislash is notable for its two forms: Shield Forme and Blade Forme. Its ability, Stance Change, allows it to shift forms during battle based on the moves it uses. When using defensive moves, it enters Shield Forme, which has high Defense and Special Defense; when using attacking moves, it shifts to Blade Forme, which has high Attack and Special Attack. Aegislash resembles a golden sword with a purple eye on its hilt and carries an ornate shield. According to legend, it can detect innate leadership qualities and will serve those it deems worthy. However, it is also rumored that an Aegislash once drained a king's life force, causing his kingdom to fall. Aegislash possesses spectral powers and can manipulate both people and Pokémon. It is also the only Pokémon known to learn the move King's Shield.
