Inkay

Inkay (Japanese: マーイーカ Maaiika) is a dual-type Dark/Psychic Pokémon introduced in Generation VI. It resembles a blue squid with glowing yellow spots that it uses to confuse its opponents. Inkay has a unique evolution method, evolving into Malamar when leveled up to level 30 while the game system is held upside-down. In the anime, Inkay has appeared, notably as a Pokémon owned by James of Team Rocket. In battle, Inkay uses Dark and Psychic moves, but it is vulnerable to Bug and Fairy attacks. It's also the only non-Water type Pokémon within the Water 2 Egg Group. Its design is likely inspired by squids or cuttlefish and sci-fi tropes involving mind control. Overall, Inkay is a distinctive Pokémon with a memorable evolution method and unique typing.
