Malamar

Malamar (Japanese: カラマネロ Calamanero) is a dual-type Dark/Psychic Pokémon introduced in Generation VI. It evolves from Inkay when leveled up starting at level 30 while the game system is held upside down. Malamar resembles an upside-down squid with purple tentacles, yellow eyes, and a pink beak. It has a dark purple body with yellow markings. Malamar possesses strong hypnotic powers, which it uses to control others, often luring prey with its luminescent patterns before ensnaring and digesting them. In the anime, it has appeared as a villainous Pokémon seeking world domination. It is based on an upside-down squid, and its hypnotic abilities are thought to be inspired by cuttlefish that mesmerize their prey by changing color. Malamar and Inkay are the only known Pokémon that can learn the move Topsy-Turvy prior to Generation VIII and in Generation IX.
