Toxapex, known as Dohidoide in Japanese, is a dual-type Poison/Water Pokémon introduced in Generation VII. It evolves from Mareanie starting at level 38. Toxapex has a distinctive appearance with twelve starfish-like tentacles on its head. Its body is purplish-pink, with a dark blue top on its head, and bright blue eyes with yellow sclerae. The tentacles are retractable and filled with spines. Toxapex inhabits the ocean floor, where it preys on Corsola. Its venom is incredibly potent, causing severe pain for three days and lingering aftereffects. Toxapex can use its tentacles to form a protective dome against tides and retain heat in colder regions. It also competes with Bruxish for warm ocean currents. The English name "Toxapex" combines "toxic" and "apex" (referring to its apex predator status), while the Japanese name "Dohidoide" may stem from "dohidoi" (cruel) and "hitode" (sea star). In games, Toxapex is renowned for its high Defense and Special Defense, making it a popular choice among players.
