Dewpider, known as Shizukumo in Japanese, is a dual-type Water/Bug Pokémon introduced in Generation VII. It resembles a green spider with a water bubble encasing its head, secured by three green projections. Its body is mostly light green, except for its dark gray abdomen. Dewpider has a large, dark gray face with two blue spikes on its forehead and a yellow mouth. It has wide, oval-shaped blue eyes and a small stinger at the tip of its abdomen. Dewpider primarily lives underwater, and when it ventures onto land in search of food, it uses the water bubble on its head to breathe and protect its soft head. This bubble is created from its silk and water, is very durable, and can be used to slam into enemies or prey. When two Dewpider meet, they compare the size of their bubbles, and the one with the smaller bubble will back down. Dewpider evolves into Araquanid starting at level 22. Dewpider possesses the ability “Water Bubble,” which weakens Fire-type attacks, strengthens Water-type attacks, and prevents burns. Its hidden ability is “Water Absorb,” which allows it to heal when hit by Water-type attacks. Dewpider’s design is inspired by the diving bell spider, and its bubble resembles a diving helmet.
