Palossand, known in Japanese as Shirodesuna, is a dual-type Ghost/Ground Pokémon introduced in Generation VII. It evolves from Sandygast starting at level 42. Palossand resembles a yellow sandcastle with gray pebbles along the base. Its main body is a square castle, with two round towers for arms, and a conical tower on top. It has a central tunnel for a mouth, adorned with alternating blue and pink seashells, and similar shells around the central tower. The central tower has six windows, with two front windows containing small pebbles that act like eyes. A red shovel is stuck handle-first into the top of its tower. Palossand has the power to control sand, with each grain having its own will. It curses and controls people and Pokémon, making them gather sand to build its body. Unlike Sandygast, Palossand can replenish lost sand on its own. The shovel on its head rotates when searching for prey, believed to act as a radar. Palossand inhabits beaches, earning the name "Beach Nightmare," but it hates water, unable to maintain its castle shape during heavy rain. Palossand captures small Pokémon by dragging them into its sandy body, draining their vitality, leaving only bones. It can grow to the size of a building by consuming life force.
