Togedemaru (Japanese: トゲデマル) is a dual-type Electric/Steel Pokémon introduced in Generation VII. It is a small, round, rodent-like Pokémon with a primarily gray back and a white front. It has 14 spiky fur protrusions on its back, which appear as yellow and brown triangles. It also possesses a long, lightning bolt-shaped needle on the back of its head, which is gray with a yellow tip. Togedemaru uses this needle to attract and gather electricity, storing it for attacks. When happy, it curls into a ball and rolls around. It does not evolve and belongs to the Electric rodent group. Togedemaru has made appearances in the anime and manga, with Sophocles owning one in the anime. Its design may be inspired by hedgehogs, porcupines, chinchillas, or the Ryukyu spiny rat. Togedemaru's abilities include Iron Barbs and Lightning Rod, with Sturdy as its hidden ability. It is a Totem Pokémon in Sophocles' trial in Pokémon Sun and Moon. Togedemaru can learn various moves through leveling up, TMs, move tutors, and breeding. It also appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a Poké Ball summon, using its signature move, Zing Zap.
