Coalossal, known as Sekitanzan in Japanese, is a Rock/Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII. It first appeared in Pokémon Sword and Shield as the final evolution of Rolycoly, evolving from Carkol at level 34. Coalossal has a tough, coal-like exterior with a volcano-like structure on its back, which allows it to emit high-temperature flames. In battle, it burns the coal on its back and releases sparks to attack opponents. Coalossal is generally peaceful, but it becomes extremely enraged if its inhabited mines are damaged, incinerating enemies with flames as hot as 2700 degrees Fahrenheit (1500 degrees Celsius). Additionally, Coalossal has a Gigantamax form, in which it becomes even larger and more powerful, reaching temperatures over 3600 degrees Fahrenheit (2000 degrees Celsius). Its Gigantamax move, G-Max Volcalith, inflicts continuous damage on non-Rock-type Pokémon. Coalossal's design is inspired by coal piles, furnaces, and dinosaurs. Its Japanese name, 'Sekitanzan,' combines coal and coal mines.
