Appletun (Japanese: タルップル Taruppuru) is a dual-type Grass/Dragon Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII. It evolves from Applin when exposed to a Sweet Apple, and is one of Applin's three final evolutionary forms, the others being Flapple and Hydrapple. Appletun resembles an apple pie, with a mostly green body, yellow underside and jaw. It has a pattern resembling a pie crust on its back, along with two red and green leaves. It wears a piece of apple on its head and has leaf-like eyes that usually droop down. Appletun's body is covered in sweet nectar that attracts Bug-type Pokémon, which it preys on. However, its primary diet is sweet apples. When other Pokémon attempt to lick the nectar on its back, Appletun can spew sticky nectar to ward them off. Appletun also has a Gigantamax form, becoming Gigantamax Appletun, which is larger and stouter. A giant apple engulfs most of its body, leaving only its head, neck, and tail exposed. The Gigantamax form's nectar is thicker, allowing it to absorb more damage. Gigantamax Appletun's exclusive move is G-Max Sweetness, which unleashes massive amounts of nectar.
Appletun's design is inspired by a dragon and an apple pie. It may also draw inspiration from the Lindworm, a green serpentine dragon, as well as turtles or camels. Its evolution, diet, and insect-luring behavior may be influenced by Passiflora plants. Its Gigantamax form resembles a caramel apple or some other sweet treat. Appletun is popular in some areas, with its nectar used to make various pastries.
