Grapploct (Japanese: オトスパス Otosupasu) is a Fighting-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII, first appearing in Pokémon Sword and Shield. It evolves from Clobbopus when leveled up while knowing Taunt. Grapploct is a blue, octopus-like Pokémon with a yellow, jagged eye mask design, and light blue eyes. It has eight tentacles, with four used as arms, three as legs, and one wrapped around its waist like a belt. Grapploct enjoys challenging terrestrial Pokémon in feats of strength, returning to the sea after the battle. Its body is made entirely of muscle, giving it a very powerful grip. It is known for its grappling abilities and is the only Pokémon that can learn the move Octolock. Grapploct and Golisopod are known to be natural rivals, with the winner preying on the loser. Grapploct's design appears to be inspired by octopuses, jujutsu fighters, and luchadores, while its Fighting-type may reference an octopus’s ability to “punch” prey with its tentacles.
