Runerigus, known as Desubaan in Japanese, is a dual-type Ground/Ghost Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII of the Pokémon series, specifically in Pokémon Sword and Shield. It evolves from Galarian Yamask. Runerigus resembles a brown runestone with a red serpentine motif, with its head seemingly used to shield most of its face, revealing only a single pink eye similar to Cofagrigus'. Its body is composed of shadow-like black tendrils that connect fragmented pieces of the stone, forming its arms, neck, and tail. According to lore, Runerigus was formed when an ancient painting imbued with a strong curse absorbed the spirit of a Yamask. Anyone who touches its shadowy body will be forced to experience the horrific memories behind the painting's creation. Runerigus evolves from Galarian Yamask after the latter has taken at least 49 HP of damage in battle without fainting and then is taken under the large stone arch in the Dusty Bowl.
