Pincurchin (Japanese: バチンウニ Bachinuni) is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII. It resembles a sea urchin with a black body, yellow eyes with black triangular pupils, and two yellow orbs for a mouth. Pincurchin feeds primarily on seaweed, using its teeth to scrape it off rocks. Its spines store electricity, and even detached spines can emit electricity for about three hours. Pincurchin's abilities include Lightning Rod, which draws in Electric-type attacks and raises its Special Attack, and its Hidden Ability Electric Surge, which sets up Electric Terrain when it enters battle. Pincurchin is timid and easily startled, discharging electricity when frightened. It is the only known Pokémon with the Electric Surge Ability. It has appeared in the Pokémon anime, often described as simple creatures living in tide pools. Pincurchin is likely based on a sea urchin, specifically the burrowing urchin, and may also reference a pincushion.
