Orthworm (Japanese: ミミズズ Mimizuzu) is a Steel-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX of the Pokémon franchise. It resembles a long worm with a six-segmented metal body, primarily red and light orange in color, with the second segment being steel-colored. It has small, pale blue eyes and a toothless mouth. The cyan ovals on the sides of its body, especially on the second segment, can extend tendrils resembling fists. When threatened, Orthworm uses these tendrils to punch opponents. It inhabits arid deserts, consuming iron from the soil to maintain its metallic body. It is sometimes found buried with only its head exposed. Orthworm is uniquely known for the Ability Earth Eater. The Lurking Steel Titan is a giant Orthworm found in the Paldea region. Its design is inspired by earthworms and subway trains, with tendrils possibly derived from polychaete parapodia. Its name may be a combination of 'ore' and 'earthworm'. The Japanese name may be a combination of 'mimizu' (earthworm) and 'uzumeru' (to bury).
