Tatsugiri, known as シャリタツ (Syaritatsu) in Japanese, is a dual-type Dragon/Water Pokémon introduced in Generation IX. Tatsugiri does not evolve but has three distinct forms: Curly Form, Droopy Form, and Stretchy Form. These forms differ primarily in color and pose. The Curly Form is orange and assumes a curled stance; the Droopy Form is pinkish-red and tends to droop; and the Stretchy Form is yellow and assumes a straight pose. Tatsugiri is very intelligent, using camouflage and feigning death to lure prey, and commands its partner Dondozo to attack. Its Ability, Commander, allows it to enter Dondozo's mouth in Double Battles, boosting Dondozo's stats based on Tatsugiri's form: Curly Form boosts Attack, Droopy Form boosts Defense, and Stretchy Form boosts Speed. Tatsugiri's design is inspired by sushi, particularly nigirizushi. Curly Form resembles shrimp nigiri, Droopy Form resembles tuna nigiri, and Stretchy Form resembles egg or herring roe nigiri. Additionally, Tatsugiri's habit of entering Dondozo's mouth may reference the mouthbrooding behavior of fish. Tatsugiri primarily inhabits lakes, cliffs, and beaches.
