Wo-Chien, also known as the Ruinous Pokémon, is a dual-type Dark/Grass Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation IX of the Pokémon series. Known in Japanese as チオンジェン (Chionjen), this Pokémon is part of the Ruinous Quartet. Wo-Chien resembles a snail with a shell made of wooden tablets. According to lore, it was born from the grudges of a person punished for writing the king's evil deeds on wooden tablets. Wo-Chien drains the life force from vegetation, causing nearby forests to wither and fields to turn barren. In battle, it is a defensive wall with good HP, Defense, and Special Defense, but suffers from numerous weaknesses, including a quadruple weakness to Bug-type moves. It has disruptive moves like Knock Off, Taunt, and Stun Spore, and can use Leech Seed and Ruination to chip away at opponents. Wo-Chien's design is inspired by Chinese bamboo slips used for writing and the mythological creature Taowu.
