Bede

Bede (Japanese: ビート Beet) is a rival character in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Initially sponsored by Chairman Rose, he specializes in Psychic-type Pokémon. After his Gym Challenger status is revoked, he is scouted by Opal and becomes her successor, specializing in Fairy-type Pokémon. Bede has platinum blond curly hair and heavily lashed purple eyes. His initial outfit includes a magenta and violet long coat with a golden wristwatch and a glove. As a Gym Leader, he wears a pastel Fairy-type uniform. Bede is initially arrogant and elitist but mellows out after his experiences. He was an orphan adopted by Rose, who gave him his first Pokémon. Bede undergoes a significant character arc, shifting from seeking Rose's approval to accepting himself and becoming a notable figure in Galar. He also appears in Pokémon anime and manga adaptations.
