Avery

Avery (Japanese: セイボリー Savory) is a rival character in The Isle of Armor in Pokémon Shield. He comes from a long line of psychics who run the Psychic-type Gym in Galar. However, he is considered a disappointment by his family for only possessing telekinesis and not more impressive psychic abilities. He developed a proud personality and a habit of levitating those who defeat him. This behavior led to his removal as a Gym Trainer. Desperate, he discovered the Master Dojo and went to the Isle of Armor to train under Mustard. He aims to improve so that he can inherit the position of Psychic-type Gym Leader. He battles the player several times throughout the story and eventually becomes a minor division Psychic Gym Leader. He also appears in other Pokémon media, such as Pokémon Masters EX and the anime Pokémon: Twilight Wings. Avery also appears as a Supporter card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
