Professor Laventon

Professor Laventon (Japanese: ラベン博士) is a character in the Pokémon series, appearing in *Pokémon Legends: Arceus*. He is the regional Pokémon Professor of the Hisui region and a member of the Galaxy Team's Survey Corps. Professor Laventon specializes in researching Pokémon's modes of life with the goal of completing the Hisui Pokédex. He is recognizable by his dark skin, black stubble mustache, lavender eyes, and a purple and white hat with a pom-pom. He also wears a white lab coat with the Galaxy Team emblem. Laventon is generally friendly and welcoming, quickly connecting with newcomers like the player due to his own journey from a distant region. Despite his diligence, he can be somewhat scatterbrained. In the game, he discovers the player after they fall through a space-time rift and entrusts them with one of the starter Pokémon. He then guides the player's journey as a member of the Galaxy Team and records the player's survey results to aid the progress of the Pokédex. The name Laventon is derived from 'lavender,' a cash crop imported to Hokkaido from Europe during the Meiji period.
