Maylene

Maylene, known as Sumomo in Japanese, is a character in the Pokémon franchise, serving as the Gym Leader of Veilstone City, specializing in Fighting-type Pokémon. She is characterized by her barefoot appearance and light attire, showcasing her unique training method. Despite her petite stature, she is highly respected by the town's adults due to her considerable power. She awards the Cobble Badge to trainers who defeat her. In the anime, Maylene's character is further developed, with her initially losing confidence after a defeat by trainer Paul, but regaining it through battles with Dawn and later Ash.
