Nanu

Nanu, known as Kuchinashi in Japanese, is a character in Pokémon Sun and Moon, and the Kahuna of Ula'ula Island. He is a skilled trainer specializing in Dark-type Pokémon. Nanu initially appears as a police officer, assisting the player in infiltrating Po Town. After Team Skull's defeat, he reveals his Kahuna status and challenges the player in Malie City for their grand trial. He grants the player the Darkinium Z and supports them in rescuing Lillie at Aether Paradise. He declines a position in the Alola Elite Four, allowing his niece Acerola to take his place. A former member of the International Police with the codename 000, he worked alongside Looker. In Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, he briefly confronts a Guzzlord at the Ruins of Abundance and participates in Mina's trial. Nanu is characterized by his lazy demeanor and fondness for playing kendama. He often tries to avoid his Kahuna duties, but when forced into battle, he enjoys provoking his opponents. Nanu also has a mysterious connection to Giovanni.
