Mr. Fuji

Mr. Fuji, known as フジろうじん in Japanese, is a significant character in the Pokémon series. He is a kind old man residing in Lavender Town of the Kanto region, renowned for his compassion and care for abandoned or orphaned Pokémon. He runs the Lavender Volunteer Pokémon House, providing shelter and care for Pokémon like Cubone. In the first generation games, he becomes enraged by Team Rocket's actions, leading to his capture by the team at the Pokémon Tower. After being rescued by the player, he rewards them with the Poké Flute, used to awaken sleeping Snorlax. Additionally, Mr. Fuji is friends with Blaine, the Cinnabar Gym Leader, and they used to work together at the Cinnabar Island laboratory, which Mr. Fuji had founded. It's rumored that he was previously involved in researching Mew and creating Mewtwo as "Dr. Fuji" but abandoned his scientific pursuits due to his disgust at Team Rocket's inhumane practices, dedicating himself instead to caring for Pokémon. Mr. Fuji has appeared in several media, including the Pokémon games, manga, and anime, and his gentle image has won him a great deal of affection from the fans.
