Cubone (Japanese: カラカラ Karakara) is a Ground-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I, also known as the Lonely Pokémon. It is a small, bipedal Pokémon resembling a dinosaur, primarily brown with a cream-colored belly. Cubone’s most distinctive feature is the skull it wears on its head, said to be that of its deceased mother. This skull obscures most of Cubone's face, leaving only its triangular, black eyes visible. It carries a bone as a weapon and is said to survive only by skillfully wielding it. Traumatized by its mother's death, Cubone tends to keep to itself, avoiding social situations. It often cries at night, mourning its mother, and the skull on its head vibrates and emits a mournful sound when it does. On nights with a full moon, its cries are said to be particularly terrible. Cubone evolves into Marowak starting at level 28, and in Alola, it evolves into Alolan Marowak when leveled up at night. Cubone and Marowak are the only known Pokémon capable of learning the moves Bone Club and Bonemerang, as well as being the only ones that can use the Thick Club item.
